New Ashkelon

An illustration for CMON. I Started with sketches of the gate and walls to wrangle in the visual language of the architecture. Ultimately they felt a combination of #13 followed by a large shanty town and then culminating in #7 where the elite upperclass would live in a walled off area with gothic-like architecture would fit the lore. The sky was supposed to be purple. I did a 3d block out in Maya, rendered with Mental Ray, and then painted over in Photoshop. Art Direction - Derek Osborne.
